While this is true, I think it's possible to engage conversation without meaning offense. Further more, causing offense put people on the defense, and no healthy sustainable discussion is going to come from someone who has defensive blinders on. Offending someone certainly starts a discussion, but is it a good discussion? I'm going to vote "no".
